Rescuing Ada and Campbell

It all started in October 2023, when a visit to a friend's house changed everything. Our friend was deeply involved with a local animal shelter, fostering orphaned puppies and kittens too young for adoption. That day, their home was a haven—a surrogate mom caring for a litter of puppies, three lively kittens, and two mischievous pups, lovingly nicknamed Cabbage and Cauliflower. Cauliflower, soon to be named Ada, was sneaking milk from the surrogate mom while her brother, Cabbage, soon to be named Campbell, joyfully played with the kittens. These animals had just been rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. After a day of cooking, laughter, and bonding with these resilient souls, we left with full hearts and a clear decision—we would adopt the puppies who would be Campbell and Ada. Inspired by their unique personalities and enduring spirits, Campbell was named after Joseph Campbell, and Ada after the brilliant 19th-century mathematician and programmer Ada Lovelace. They’re more than just our companions; they’re the heart and soul of our family.

Ada’s Pet Supply:

Empowering Shelters, Supporting Pets, and Promoting Sustainability

We’re on a mission to create a better world for pets, shelters, and the planet. Inspired by our own rescue dogs, we believe that every pet deserves love, every shelter deserves support, and every choice we make should be kind to the environment and those helping us complete our goals. That’s why we’ve built Ada’s Pet Supply around three core values: compassion, sustainability, and community.

Toy Donations & Shelter Partnerships

Every toy we create starts with love and ends with impact. For every order placed through our online store, we donate a toy to an animal shelter. These donations do more than just provide comfort—they bring joy to pets waiting for their forever homes. It’s a simple act that reminds us how small gestures can create ripples of kindness. Fighting Fabric Waste

Our rope toys are entirely hand-made from recycled clothing, turning discarded fabrics into durable, eco-friendly products. By upcycling materials, we’re not only reducing fabric waste but also offering pet owners a sustainable alternative to mass-produced, environmentally harmful products.

Fair Pay

At Ada’s Pet Supply, we pay our toy makers $15 an hour—more than double our state’s minimum wage—because we value their hard work and dedication. Fair pay supports local families, fosters dignity, and strengthens our mission to help shelters and pets in need. By choosing Ada’s, you’re supporting a business that prioritizes people, pets, and ethical practices.

Carbon Neutral Manufacturing

At Ada’s Pet Supply, every toy is handcrafted with care and a commitment to sustainability. Using recycled materials, we upcycle fabric into durable, high-quality rope toys, staying true to our zero-waste ethos. By avoiding heavy machinery and energy-intensive production, we reduce our carbon footprint. We’re also exploring ways to offset shipping emissions to uphold our planet-first values. Supporting Ada’s means supporting a business dedicated to creating a thriving future for pets, people, and the planet.

Campbell & Ada

Ada

Ada is our one-year-old whirlwind of personality. As Campbell’s sister and lifelong partner in crime, Ada is the embodiment of resilience wrapped up in a crooked-tailed, ridge-backed bundle of energy.

She’s a spirited little stinker with a penchant for playful chaos. When she’s not snarling during games with her brother, she’s showing her empathetic side, appeasement-playing with smaller dogs to make them feel safe. Every day, Ada insists on her fair share of playtime—a demand we happily meet. Her boundless energy keeps us laughing, even when her “reign of terror” leaves the house in delightful disarray.

But Ada has a softer side. When the day winds down, she’s always there to cuddle, curling up close as if to remind us that her fierce exterior hides a heart full of love. Her crooked tail and the ridge of fur running down her back—quirks we lovingly call her “sparkle”—are a testament to her journey from a difficult past to a life filled with joy, safety, and boundless affection.

Campbell

Campbell is Ada’s bigger brother in every sense of the word, He's a one-year-old, twenty-five-pound-heavier bundle of pure soul and sweetness. Despite his size, Campbell’s heart is as gentle as they come. He’s a scaredy baby who shows just as much empathy as his sister, often indulging in play styles that make every dog, big or small, feel welcome.

In their daily backyard adventures, Campbell always lets Ada chase him and, without fail, lets her win every playful tussle. It’s a testament to his patient, loving nature. But when it’s time for cuddles, there’s no stopping him. Campbell is a certified “cuddle bug,” always vying for the best spot next to his mama (my fiancée) and unapologetically moving any other dog out of the way to get there. When he’s not snuggling, you’ll find him searching for food—Campbell’s eternal quest—or romping around with his non-biological brother, Crowley.

He may be our lovable oaf, but Campbell’s kindness, goofiness, and unshakeable loyalty make him so much more than that. He’s a daily reminder of the transformative power of love and safety, and we can’t imagine our lives without him.
